More commonly referred to as “traditional braces,” these are the most common type of braces used in orthodontics.  The metal braces used here at the Braces and Invisalign in Orange County are made of high-quality stainless steel.  Technology in metal braces has advances greatly over the years; they are now able to be smaller, more comfortable, and even more effective than only a few years ago.

Traditional braces straighten your teeth by using brackets that are glued to your teeth, in conjunction with arch wires that can easily be adjusted for added comfort.  The arch wire can be created from several alloys, but the most common ones are beta-titanium, nickel-titanium, and stainless steel.  Traditional braces are also used to correct under bites, overbites, cross bites, and other flaws in the jaw and teeth.

Treatment Duration

Let’s discuss the treatment duration of traditional braces.  Wearing your braces can usually last anywhere from two to three years, with adjustments taking place about once a month or as needed.  This can vary, however, depending on the age of the patient and the amount of straightening needed.

Once your braces are taken off, you new-and-improved smile will last you a lifetime.  The overall benefits of traditional braces are their lower cost and the options to customize them with different colors.  Here at the Braces & Invisalign in Orange County, Invisalign Westminster, we give our patients the option to add colored ties, which can be arranged in fun patterns.  These colors can also be changed at every office visit to keep it new and exciting.
